A piece of the puzzle that doesn’t fit in

Emotions flow like gurgling streams

rushing through my veins like lucid dreams

I am forlorn in these thoughts of mine

Head empty and just living for the divine

Sometimes I feel nothing,

at the same time, I feel everything

A piece of the puzzle that doesn’t fit in

Try as I might

I easily lose sight

Maybe it’s just me, maybe it’s everyone

maybe this is what we all feel

but try very hard and succeed to conceal

Sometimes the answers’ right there in front of me

but yet its something I cannot see

Maybe some answers are not meant to be found

and to our fates, we are all bound

Someday the veil shall be lifted

and through this fog, reality will be sifted.

Sometimes I wish for a guide

Sometimes I wish for a guide

Something by which I could abide

Something that told me whether I was wrong or right

Something that told me whether my future is dark or bright

Wouldn’t life be simpler?

If only it had a bit of structure

Sometimes it’s all too complicated

I wonder if my decisions are good or ill-fated?

Sometimes I wish to see in black and white

Then my thoughts wouldn’t have to frequently fight

Hence, I wish for a guide

Something by which I could abide.

Love & Pain

Why do we love the ones that hurt us?

Why is it so hard to leave?

Haven’t we learnt our lessons in pain?

Knowing fully well, we have nothing to gain.

For some love is simple, for some it’s complicated

For some it’s a miracle, for some it’s ill fated

For some it’s freedom, for some it’s a cage

For some, it ends quickly, for some in old age

They say we are too young to love

But is it because of age or the wrong one we chose?

For in love there is only one key

If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be.

Lessons in Opposites

We weigh our options in pros and cons

We wonder whether they are right or wrong

We all experience ups and downs

Our faces filled with smiles and frowns

But what if I were to tell you life isn’t black or white

That it is okay to love and lose

You cannot always determine what’s left or right

Sometimes you will be stuck between the dark and light

Whether you are a man or woman

We all have a beginning and end

So just trust yourself within and without

Embrace the slience and the noise

SEPTEMBER

A new hope grows within

igniting the flames

dusted with gold

A blazing fire in the very pit of their souls

vanquishing the abysses of their dreams

the fallen shall rise again

A new today, a new tomorrow

a new feeling to bask and rejoice in

So rekindle your hope one and all

mend your broken spirits and conquer your fall

we are not done marching

and we never were

to move forward is our only aim, past the hail and past the storm.

-Niyati Parab

Rekindle your hope one and all, mend your broken spirits and conquer your fall

Laurels of the past

Laurels of glory

knew not their folly

of raising a man

who with the passage of time becomes vainer

A cry for help from a grieving soul

when they were bestowed he was but a young foal

with ego his poor soul had become as black as coal

he thought he could own everyone

the ones who could defy him? hah! to him there were none

he was his parents pride and joy

since he was a wee boy

but all their love couldn’t have told

that this boy’s tale was one of woe

because he was unaware of this world

that would leave him aghast

for little did this boy know

that one cannot rest on the laurels of the past.

-Niyati Parab

One cannot rest on the laurels of the past

The tears flow

everytime I let myself go

It’s always going to follow me

It’s never going to just let me be

clouds of rain cover me

through the storm it gets hard to see

I find myself drowning again

I feel like a tragedienne

but inspite of all of this

I have a few

some of them who are new

thanks to them hope rises from within

they give me the strength to begin

a journey from the scratch

and from this recurring darkness I will detach

and someday set myself free.

An Odyssey

I step out and see

a mass but not really one

anxious of what might be

all of us swirling in a big cauldron

the slightest touch makes us slip away

towards nothing, away from them

be it night or be it day

the news is riddled with mayhem

I pray for those who have fallen prey

those who couldn’t get through

those who in these times have lost their way

and those who are feeling that everyday blue

But somehow we must carry on

keep our strength and move past

the world we knew has gone

but we must hold on to our sinking ship’s mast.

The old man

Tangent dreams of a merry world

gone by in a distant swirl

Old Man Painting Old Man Art Old Man PRINT Old Man on Bench - Art ...

reality has broken quite a few

fallen on grass like the morning dew

At night he goes to the mountain

and weeps like a flowing fountain

once he had it all

glory in bounty before his fall

Now alone he sits in the evenings

reminiscing his old beginnings

tending to old wounds

and feeding his hounds

They call him the old man

he is a grouch from Dec to Jan

cause little do they know

you reap what you sow.

Why?

A wise man once said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Rule 1: Don't lose your humanity - Corporate Commanders

in every shape and form moulded by the creator

Yet we discriminate

and look at certain people and hesitate

Why must we judge

and hold any unnecessary grudge?

Why must our souls see different

and pass cruel judgement?

Why can’t we simply accept

and keep our mean opinions burried 6 feet deep in a casket?

Why can’t we be kind

leave the past behind

and look out for each other

and hold love and respect for every sister and brother.
